Stowy
Alternative Disk Jockey Stowy migrated south from Michigan to the Army in 86'. Knowing nothing except the Detroit and Ann-Arbor scene, he was introduced to N. Carolina's alternative music scene at Barry's II on Hillsborough Street in Raleigh. He haunted Charlotte's Park Elevator at a patron in both locations as well as Reunion and Neo in Fayetteveille.
With inspiration from Mojo in Detroit, AmyDJ from Barry's II, DJC of Club Neo and djsteve from the Fallout Shelter, he took on his first house DJ gig at the ACC Tavern on Hillsborough St. in Raleigh in 1991.
Stowy helped create many popular events such as the 1st and 2nd After the Fallout reunions at Area 51 as well as some underground, abandoned building/in the woods-type parties.
In 1998 he relocated to Asheville becoming a resident DJ at Joli Rogue with the 5th Circle and a favorite DJ of the Asheville Downtown Association as well as performing at the Green Ball and Red Ball for the Asheville Area Arts Council. In 2006 he was voted best DJ in Asheville's MountainX "Best of WNC".
In 2007 he relocated back to Raleighwood spinning tunes with Dirge Factory and the occasional house party.
Stowy recently landed a new venue "Music for the Masses" - every 2nd Friday at Flex in Raleigh - The first one will be on March 13, 2009, then second on April 10, etc....
