Raleigh/Asheville EBM, Darkwave, Industrial, Electro, Synth Pop

    Present...

Hello.  First of all, if you still come to this site, you must be very bored.  Get out once in a while!!   ...or you are a stalker.  If you are stalking me, please drop a line a say hello so we can catch up.  It has been too long..

I am Stowy.  Rhymes with Wow-eee - So stop rhyming me with Whoa-wee.  Welcome to my Crappy little music site - now in it's 13th year.  This site used to be an up-to-date reflection of what is going on in the Carolina's, but now you should go to myspace, the5thcircle.com, dirge-factory.com or raleighunderground.com  for that.  They are more up-to-date than this site fo sho.

I recently relocated back to Raleigh.  I resigned from Joli Rouge after them double booking events, not paying me several times, friends banning the placee due to poor bar service and attitudes from the door when a friend would show up and not be wearing black..  I also was "released" from being a 5th Circle DJ at that time.  I was told that if I did not live there, there was no reason to be considered a 5th Circle DJ.  Whatever..  I guess my promotions and all that will be better rec'd in Raleigh .  I am glad to be out of the Asheville Indy/Goth scene and back where people actually show up for events, dance and acknowledge your smile rather than look away.  Now I have linked back into the EMPIRE OF DOOM and my friends at  Dirge Factory, Temptation, 120 Minutes, Legends, etc...  I plan to do some promotions here too.  It is nice to be back in a real city.

I no longer do regular, full-time gigs.  The weekly 5AM mornings were wearing on this old soul and there is alot of good stuff going on in Raleigh, Charlotte, Durham, Fayetteville, etc.  I still do several events a year though.  See my MySpace page for updates..

I am one of the few remaining DJ's in this genre (Industrial/Goth/SynthPop/EBM Classic Alternative) that is a standing member of the "Vinyl Empire" (term stolen from Lord DJC) - This means I hook it on Vinyl - Old Skool with a new Skool twist.  I have been using Traktor since v.1 and love it - Especially the new version of Traktor Scratch.  I recented started beat gridding after some good schooling from DJ Steve which means I can leave the turntables at home finally..  Most of these new kids do not beatmatch.  I have heard fellow DJ's tell me that there is no reason to beat match Industril/Goth.  I say - Really?  Drees, Lord DJC, Spyder, DJ Steve, Nareau and I still do - You should too!  After all  - It is a dancefloor.

Recently there has been some immature rivalry between certain un-named Carolina DJ's in our scene.  Personally, I think that it is a waste of Oxygen to get into it, so I try not to acknowlege it or get caught up in the drama.  I remember when Raleigh, Charlotte, Wilmington and Chapel Hill's scenes petered out and we all had to go to other states to dance.  Now we have more we can do.  Several events on the same weekends even...  I do not see how we can be angry about that.  Choice is a good thing.

Some Updates.....

Look for an After the Fallout 5 event - (unconfirmed but strong) Summer 2008.

Also look for Cirque Macabre II   - (Confirmed) in Spring/Summer 2008

The 5th Circle has left Joli Rouge and is relocating to Nashwa (hopefully I spelled that right).  It is opening in April or May I hear.

Eccentrik Festival is still happening every year and has great attendance, bands and DJ's

I also create these demo CD's that I hand out - for promotional use only.  Someday I will legalize it and actually sell mix CD's under Stowy Sessions 65.

    The past...

In Carolina, I have been around since Park Elevator I and helped open Park Elevator II (RIP), Barry's II (RIP), Reunion and Club Neo in Fayetteville (RIP), and The Fallout Shelter (RIP).  I cut my teeth at the ACC Tavern as a DJ when they begged me to leave Barry's one night to cover for somebody that quit as the DJ.  It was hard to clice out my own thing given that Steve had it going on at the Fallout and Barry's was still going on.  The New Bar was rocking it along that time too.  I am proud to have added my piece to the Hillsborough Steet scene (may it Rest in Peace)

I helped host many rockin Indy/Goth/Alternative events in NC.. Some old ones are Raleigh "July Evening Skies", the "A.M." events at the former New Bar, Earthrise at the former Fallout Shelter, "After the Fallout" in Area 51, After the Fallout II "All Hallows Eve" and various other events. - Some of you just got off the nipple then - it was in the late 80's to early 90's.

This also used to be the Futurefloors site, but is now dedicated soley to the EBM, Darkwave, Industrial, Electro and Synthpop scene.  DJ Pick (aka R.E.P or Rob) is still around, but is doing some different things on the production side of things and living in Charlotte.  Drees is in Asheville.  Steve is still rocking it in Raleigh.  DJC, Lyria and AssassaNathan are holding events in Raleigh with Dirge-Factory.
